Prime Minister of St. Maarten Sarah Wescot Williams and Dr. Marcia de Castro, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative of Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, Curacao and St. Maarten met on July 7th in Philipsburg. Both signed a declaration of intent with three objectives for nation building and national development. This comes at a time most appropriate, nine months after Sint Maarten acquired status as a constituent country. It is anticipated that these objectives would be achieved through the implementation of policies aimed towards reaching the Millennium Development Goals and increased implementation of Dev-info, an online database which measures socio-economic development.
