UNDP representative visits Prime Minister of the
Netherlands Antilles
| On Tuesday the 23rd of February 2010, Mr. Edo Stork,
Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development
Programme (UNDP) Country Office for Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname,
Aruba, and Netherlands Antilles, made a courtesy call to the Prime
Minister Mrs. Emily de Jongh - Elhage of the
Netherlands Antilles. Present at this meeting was also the
Director of the Department for Development Cooperation, Mr.
Ir. Ralph James. The mission of Mr. Stork took place in
relation to the Netherlands Antilles/UNDP ‘Capacity
Development for Nation Building in the Netherlandsthe Prime
Minister of the Antilles”-project which was signed by the Prime Minister of the
Netherlands Antilles on the 23rd of June.

This project contains a number of goals, such as for
example:
-
“A Completed national MDG report and the
creation of socio economic internet databases for Curacao and St.
Maarten”
-
“To facilitate an efficient transfer of
tasks and responsibilities from federal government to new country
governments including to the new countries
(Country Curaçao, Country St. Maarten) and archive data.”

Mr. Stork took the opportunity to introduce to the Prime Minister
Mrs. Okama Brook, who has taken up her assignment in the Netherlands
Antilles for the before mentioned project in the Department of
Development Cooperation.
During his mission from 22-25 February, Mr. Stork held
conversations with various stakeholders to discuss in depth the
implementation of the project which is managed by Mrs. Jamila Romero,
Senior Policy Officer of the Department for Development Cooperation and
furthermore explored in which other areas UNDP could be of assistance in
the future.
Particularly such themes as Energy, Environment,
Capacity Development, Democratic Governance, and HIV/AIDS were
highlighted. Mrs. Agnette Kingswijk-Tobi from the Department for
Development Cooperation represented Mrs. Jamila Romero who was out of
the country at the time. |

| In relation to the project already two change
management workshops for directors and heads of services have been
completed in Curacao and St Maarten. |
