Social Investment Fair funded by the UNDP Small Grants Programme and implemented by the St. George East Branch Association of Village and Community Councils15 June 2011 Potential Projects for the development of Communities under the umbrella of the St. George East Branch Association of Village and Community Councils were shared with potential partners at a Social Investment Fair on 15 July 2011.
These projects were the outputs of over 5 months of training and mentoring of Unit Councils facilitated through the UNDP SGP funded project Capacity Development Programme for St. George East. The Fair was one of the project activities and it sought to bring the Village/Community Council Movement and development agencies together to further develop and implement projects which will benefit the communities. Over 120 representatives from Village and Community Councils were presents as too were development agencies – Community Development Fund, Tourism Development Company, CANARI, the Green Fund, the Telecommunications Authority and our own UN agencies, UNIC and UNDP. The Social Investment Fair proved to be a suitable platform for highlighting the outputs of the project and may prove to be a catalyst towards the replication of Capacity Development Initiatives in Community Councils throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
