The Honourable Carolyn Seepersad Bachan gave her Ministry’s full support for the project in her feature address. She termed the project as ground breaking which would help to create a deeper sense of environmental responsibility in citizens, and praised the involvement of students in efforts to reach the wider community. Dr. Marcia De Castro, Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative of Trinidad and Tobago identified the project as an incremental step in policy. She reiterated the importance of reducing the reliance on fossil fuels in this country and the need to invest in renewable sources of energy and green economies. In upcoming months, members of UNATT and those involved in the project will continue promotion of solar energy devices in schools across Trinidad and Tobago. By so doing, the project works towards achieving Millennium Development Goals, particularly 2 (achieve universal primary education), 7 (ensure environmental sustainability) and 8 (develop global partnerships).
