December 9th marked International Anti-Corruption Day which is designated to raise awareness of corruption and the role of the United Nations Convention against Corruption in combating and preventing it.

In Trinidad and Tobago, UNDP and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in partnership with the Trinidad and Tobago Transparency Institute (TTTI) observed this day with activities on the Brian Lara Promenade in an effort to ACT against corruption.

Members of the public and media attend events on Friday 9 December 2011, Block 6 of the Brian Lara Promenade (between Frederick and Chacon Streets) where there was a flash mob, free give aways and a knowledge fair. Among spectators were a team from the UNDP Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean and United Nations Headquarters, including Margareta Wahlstrom, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General on Disaster Risk Reduction.

Activities leading up to 9 December included a T-Shirt Competition and Call for Dancers for the flash mob. First place winner of the T-Shirt competition was Robert Romany and People's Choice winner was Bryan Mohan.
