The chart above indicates the contrasting trends of the production of cement and sugar during the period 1960 to 2007.
In the case of cement production there has been an upward trend throughout this period with a total of 174.4 tonnes being produced in 1960 and 901.8 tonnes in 2007, an increase of 727.4 tonnes or 80.7% In the case of sugar the reverse obtains, with a production figure of 174.4 metric tonnes in 1960 to 66.7 tonnes in 2007, representing a decline of 107.7 tonnes or 61.8%.
