The expected pattern of the population growth of Trinidad and Tobago during the first twenty five years of the 21st century is illustrated in Chart 2. The projections are based on observed birth rates, life expectancy at birth, age specific death rates and age specific migration rates.
It is expected that the population would rise from 1,262,366 in 2000 to a peak of 1,310,888 in 2015, an increase of 3.84%. The data predicts that the population of Trinidad and Tobago would thereafter experience a decrease of 1.26% over the period 2015 to 2025 as the figure is projected to fall to 1,294,347 by 2025.
