Government of T&T and UNDP launch International Year of Forests and Commemorate World Wetlands Day

On 1 February 2011, Dr. the Honourable  RoodalMoonilal, Minister of Housing and the Environment, Mr. Anthony Ramnarine, Conservator of Forests, and UNDP Deputy Resident Representative, Edo Stork launched the Trinidad and Tobago programme of activities in observance of the International Year of Forests 2011 and the commemoration of World Wetlands Day 2011. 

The United Nations General Assembly declared 2011 as the International Year of Forests to raise awareness on sustainable management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests.  

The venue for the launch was the visitor’s centre of the Caroni Swamp.
