Caribbean Human Development Report 2011
Poster Competition

Timothy Bootan, winner of the CHDR poster competition.

This competition recognized the importance of youth and their contribution to Citizen Security. Several persons participated and submitted posters which illustrate the theme "Youth violence is an exception rather than a rule: Releasing youth vitality through investing in them".

After a careful consideration the judging panel declared Timothy Bootan as the winner of the UNDP Caribbean Human Development Report on Citizen Security Poster competition. The panel looked at his work in relation to the theme of the competition “Youth violence is an exception rather than a rule: Releasing youth vitality through investing in them” as well as his position in the popular vote.

Winning poster by Timothy Bootan.

Poster with most votes via Facebook by Jayesh Kisoensingh.

Mr. Bootan a Trinidad and Tobago national wins USD$1,000 and a chance to have an interpretation of his submission featured on the upcoming Caribbean Human Development Report on Citizen Security cover. But, this not all though, the panel has felt that Surinamese national Jayesh Kisoensingh, who received the most votes via Facebook, has cause to receive a merit prize of USD$400 for his contribution.

In order to give a voice to all the participants and to convey the messages expressed in their posters, the UNDP will be considering options to feature non-winning posters in the Caribbean HDR-CS related publications and promotion materials. They will all soon be invited to any youth consultation we will be having in their country and their artwork will be mentioned and displayed where possible.

The UNDP CHDR team thanks all contributors and ask that everyone please stay tuned to our UNDP Caribbean Human Development Report on Citizen Security Facebook group since we will be publishing more items for discussion and your participation from now on.'
